Featured on the award-winning blog, Black Perspectives, Alexis brings fresh insights and a captivating perspective to history.

We were proud to host our Langston Hughes Youth Oratorical Contest in honor of the late Christine Presberry Tolbert, a visionary leader who preserved history and uplifted future generations. As the founder of Hosanna School Museum, she ensured that African American stories would never be forgotten.

​Underground Railroad and African American History Tour

Date: Sunday, August 10th

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

​

Location: Havre de Grace Colored School Museum and Cultural Center, 555 Alliance Street, Havre de Grace, MD

Join us for the Underground Railroad and African American History Tour and explore the rich history of Havre de Grace. The tour begins at the historic Havre de Grace Colored School and highlights inspiring stories of Frederick Douglass, Henry “Box” Brown, and Ellen and William Craft—all of whom made their historic escape to freedom through Havre de Grace.

​

We’ll also discuss Belle Vue Farm’s role in the Christiana Resistance and its potential impact on the start of the Civil War. Don’t miss this powerful journey through history!
